In October 2004 it became UK law that all web sites
are required to not discriminate against any visitors,
much the same way that shops are required
to allow access for every person wishing to visit the shop.
The main issue this law seeks to resolve is the
problem involving web site incompatibility with
'screen reader'
programs. These programs are used by partially sighted and blind
people to allow them to have easier use of a computer.
The programs read certain characteristics of objects
on a web page. If these details are not correctly filled
in, or even worse they are left out, then the screen reader
will not pass on the correct information to the visitor and
they will not be given full access to the web site content.
The
digi-masters team believes it is important
that visitor is able to understand all the content of a
web site. For this reason we continue to follow the latest
standards for accessibility. We also welcome feedback from
visitors to the web sites we have constructed and will
resolve any issues that occur as soon as possible.
